Request Form to Become Recognized by SK Drug Plan as a Designated ARV and/or DAA Prescriber |
Designated ARV & DAA Prescriber Overview
Thank You for your interest in becoming recognized by Saskatchewan Drug Plan as a Designated ARV and/or DAA Prescriber. The STBBI Treatment Education Program for Saskatchewan (STEPS) will assist you with this process.
This form will take 2-5 minutes to complete and will provide STEPS with the information required to coordinate your request.
What are ARVs and DAAs?
- ARVs (antiretrovirals) are medications used to treat HIV by suppressing the virus, slowing disease progression, and preventing transmission. They are taken as part of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and can also be used for prevention, such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
- DAAs (direct-acting antivirals) are medications that treat and cure hepatitis C.
Why become a Designated ARV and/or DAA Prescriber?
- To ensure automatic ARV/DAA EDS adjudication and timely drug cost coverage of ARV and/or DAA prescriptions for patients covered under SK Drug Plan.
-
ARV and DAA prescriptions are not eligible for online adjudication at pharmacies when written by non-designated prescribers.
Please Note:
- Patients covered under non-insured health benefits (NIHB) will have their ARV/DAA drug costs covered without the need for a prescriber to be recognized as a Designated ARV/DAA Prescriber through SK Drug Plan.
- You do not need approval from the STEPS program to prescribe ARV and/or DAA medications; rather the STEPS program is able to assist with coordinating the SK Drug Plan's requirement of listing an Infectious Diseases specialist on your request.
