This program is open to UVic graduate students and upper-level undergraduate students doing community-engaged coursework, honours, thesis or dissertation, including community-engaged research, projects, and field experiences, as well as service learning experiences.

International students are not eligible for the funding due to funder restrictions. If an international student wants to be part of the cohort and partake in the workshops and learning opportunities - please email celoffice@uvic.ca.

All demographic information shared in this application is confidential and solely shared with the funder to assess the accessibility and impact of their granting programs in higher education institutions.

During the program you will be expected to publicly share your project and/or learnings from your experience in a way deemed appropriate by you and your community partner, for the purposes of learning, knowledge mobilization, and celebration.

Rolling application deadline: applications will be accepted from May 30th, 2025 until September 20, 2025 for both the summer cohort and fall cohort or until all program spaces are filled, whichever is sooner.

Engaging Meaningfully is an initiative of Community-Engaged Learning Office within the University of Victoria Co-op and Careers Services.

The program includes a $1000 honorarium for each student, plus some available funds to help cover materials/software/transport that support your community-engaged activities. There is also an up to $400 honorarium for students' community partner(s).

Eligible host / industry / community partners:
· Private organizations Includes: businesses, bodies incorporated or unincorporated, for-profit band councils.
· Not-for-profit organizations Includes: local community, charitable, voluntary organizations, unions, not-for-profit band councils, Provincial or Territorial Non-governmental organizations.
· If the organization has a charitable number, even if it is mostly funded by the government, the organization is eligible as a host / industry / community partner.

Please note: In some cases, the host / industry / community partner may be managed by a larger organization (ex. schools and hospitals). In these cases, you will need to search for the school board / division name or health authority name in the CRA Charitable listing website.
