District of Central Saanich Targeted Land-Use Bylaw Updates

6% of survey complete.
The District of Central Saanich is seeking input on how to better support local commercial and industrial landowners in key areas of the community to develop vibrant small commercial nodes.

This work is grounded in updating policies in the Official Community Plan (OCP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB).

A part of this process is focusing on small commercial nodes, which include:
  • The Verdier node (surrounding the Brentwood Bay Ferry terminal)
  • The Island View node (surrounding Tonolli’s Deli)
  • The Turgoose node (surrounding the Waddling Dog Inn)

The OCP has described a future vision for these nodes that includes acting on “their unique opportunity to create a walkable community and a sense of place.”

The small commercial nodes can contribute to complete neighbourhoods by facilitating local businesses that will enhance the area for nearby residents and visitors. Our goal with this survey is to better understand the community’s preferences on what type of commercial uses are most suitable for the area, and which potential amendments to zoning regulations or other related policies and guidelines should be considered.

Additional background information on this project can be found at: letstalkcentralsaanich.ca

With your help, we would like to get feedback on how zoning for small commercial nodes can be improved.
