Expanding Opportunities for Child Care
The District of Central Saanich is reviewing the Land Use Bylaw regulations on child care with a view to removing barriers to permitting child care, and creating expanded opportunities for child care.

A review of the District’s approach has found that Child Care (or Day Care) use is permitted in 13 zones and prohibited in the rest. Our review of the zones where it is prohibited found four zones where it could be permitted as a Principal Use (A3, C5, C8, P2), and three zones where it could be permitted as an and Accessory Use as a home occupation (RM-2, RP-1, RP-2).

A jurisdictional scan found that the City of Victoria, as well as the District of North Vancouver, the City of Delta, the Town of Smithers, and the Town of Port McNeill allow Child Care in almost all zones.
