Project Description

Thank you for your consideration in participating in this study. This is a pre-screening survey to help the research team recruit a diverse population by ensuring an equal representation across heights, weights, skin tones and genders for an effective study. You will be notified by the research team whether you are chosen or not of your participation in this study upon completion of this pre-screening survey.

This study will consist of a structured sequence of recording steps that will have you lying in a medical bed and performing various tasks and movements while your whole body is recorded by video cameras. Additionally, upon arriving for the study, your physical measurements will be taken such as height, weight, age and skin tone using the monk scale. The study should take around 1 hour to complete all the sequences but it is not time strict and you may request breaks or rest periods between sequences.

The results from this study will be used to develop scalable solutions for pressure injury prevention, reducing healthcare costs and alleviating the burden on healthcare professionals.

To participate in this study, you must be 19 years and older and be able to understand directions in English. The study will take place in the City Center 2 building in Surrey near the Surrey Memorial Hospital.

The following questions will collect some demographic information about yourself. Additionally, your physical measurements will be validated before the study such as age, height, weight and skin tone in the monk scale.

The goal of this study is to collect data from a diverse population to develop pressure injury algorithms with video cameras for different body skin tones and shapes to maintain an equal spread of features.
