This study is being conducted by the Grow to Care Lab at Simon Fraser University. We primarily focus on the development of children's emotions.
"Children's Positive Emotions" study looks at how parents talk to their children about their emotions, and how children’s emotions influence how they treat their peers.
This is an online study that will be conducted through Zoom and will take approximately 45-60 minutes of your time. During this study, you and your child will complete the following tasks:
You and your child will discuss stories read by a research assistant.
Your child will engage in an individual interview where they will hear stories and answer questions about their thoughts and feelings.
While your child completes the interview, you will complete a questionnaire about your family demographics and your child's emotional development.
You will be gifted a $25 DoorDash e-gift card and $5 Amazon e-gift card for participating in our study.
Before moving on to the eligibility questions, to participate in this study the following are required:
- Your child must be between the ages of 6-9 years
- Only one child per parent may enroll in the study
- Participants must reside in British Columbia
- Parents must be able to read, write and speak English
- Children must be able to understand and speak English
- Participants must have two working devices with audio and video functionality
- Children with vision and/or hearing impairments are not eligible to participate due to the auditory and visual nature of the study
