Thank you for your interest in joining the building tour of the LJ Christmas Apartments.

A collaboration between ZEBx and the Housing That Connects Us project (Hey Neighbour Collective, Happy Cities and Renewable Cities), we are inviting a range of participants for a unique opportunity for cross-sectoral conversations. This tour will cover the technical details of the retrofit, as well as conversations about the importance of collaboration between the construction team, housing operator and owners when undergoing a retrofit with tenants in place. Participants will have backgrounds in deep energy retrofits, urban planning, design, housing operations and more.

Housing That Connects Us has a limited number of fully subsidized spots available for this tour, and will be prioritizing planners and housing operators.

This tour will cover:
  • The finances of the project and how the retrofit was funded
  • A detailed mechanical systems overview
  • Visiting units pre- and post-retrofit, the aging in place design features and how the operators and construction team are managing construction while residents are in place
  • A fireside chat between LJ Christmas Apartments staff and Director of Hey Neighbour Collective, Michelle Hoar, covering the importance of retaining older buildings while supporting aging in place

Accessibility note
This event will include walking up stairs and standing for extended periods of time as we tour the building. Washrooms are available on the main floor. All floors of the building are serviced by elevators.
