Facilitator
Leisel Knaack, Director, Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning, Vancouver Island University
Liesel was formerly a K-12 teacher and Associate Professor in two Faculties of Education before coming to VIU in 2010. She has a Master in Education from Nipissing University and a PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the University of Toronto.

British Columbia is undertaking a significant reform of its Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum, assessment, competencies and graduation requirements. In Fall 2020, post-secondary institutions could see many incoming BC high school graduates who have had engagement with the new BC curriculum experiences. Are BC’s colleges, institutes and universities ready for these students? Are supports in place to provide an effective transition between high school and post-secondary learning? The session will include an overview of the top 10 BC K-12 curriculum changes and how these changes may impact post-secondary learning. Liesel will also share what is happening across the province with regards to establishing a more K-12 seamless learning journey. Everyone is welcome: instructors, administrators, support staff, advisors, recruiters, learning strategists, instructional designers, library staff, registrar’s office, etc!

Note: Before registering, please ensure that you are able to make the commitment. These offerings depend on you for their success.
