Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.
Background Information

My name is Troy Ssebanakitta, I am a fourth-year student at Thompson Rivers University. This survey supports research being conducted as a component of a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

The purpose of the research is to better understand Kamloops homeowners' (i.e., detached homes, townhouses, duplexes, condominiums, and trailer parks) awareness of solar energy, their attitudes, and their responses to adaptation. The results will help inform policy decisions surrounding the topic of solar demand and its importance for a sustainable future.

This survey is ONLY for households that can use solar energy (i.e., solar panels) in their house.

Why this matters to you

Kamloops has experienced increasing periods of climate change events such as drought, wildfires, rivers and lakes shrinkage, and water shortages. Your response will help policymakers and researchers understand:
  • How aware residents are of solar energy's benefits and costs.
  • Current pricing of electricity and heating.
  • What additional policies and incentives might be required to adapt solar energy.

The results of this survey will help inform research, city policymakers and the community about the residents' views on solar energy and adaptation.

The data will be analyzed using statistical tools and the statistical results will be included in my final thesis in tables summarizing the findings. This research will be available online in a book or published in a journal as a special issue. Journals often wish for the full dataset to be made available and open access; in which case the dataset will be published in a public repository.
