We are inviting you to participate in an interview as part of our cross-provincial qualitative research programme on primary care payment reform and workload in Canada. For this project, we will be conducting two sets of interviews:

  • Part I. Payment Reform: we will interview family physicians who are compensated by Longitudinal Family Physician in British Columbia, Family Medicine Plus in Manitoba, and Longitudinal Family Medicine in Nova Scotia to better understand their perspectives on and experiences with these new blended compensation models.
  • Part II. Workload: we will interview family physicians and nurse practitioners who provide comprehensive community-based primary care in British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia about their workload experiences.

If you are interested in participating in at least one of these interviews, please complete the following short survey. To submit your survey and be considered for study participation, we ask that you provide us your name, email address, province, profession, and indicate which part(s) of the study you are interested in participating. We also have a short series of optional questions for you to answer. Please answer as many as you like. Upon receipt of your submission, a member of our research team will contact participants by email using the address you provide on the next page. In addition to registering your interest in participating, this survey will allow us to assess your eligibility and to ensure a diverse sample of participants by asking for your location (province, urban/rural), profession, gender, and primary care payment model. It should take less than five minutes to complete.

This survey is hosted on SurveyMonkey, a tool hosted and supported by Simon Fraser University. All information captured in this short survey will be stored securely and only the Principal Investigators (Drs Lindsay Hedden and Agnes Grudniewicz) and Research Manager (Sarah Spencer) will have access to your responses. Prospective participants who are deemed ineligible for this study based on responses to the screening survey questions will be notified by the survey. For ineligible participants who are not interested in being contacted about future research, we will only retain survey responses for as long as the survey is open (i.e., recruitment is ongoing). Prospective participants who indicate that they are interested in being contacted about future related research will have their name and contact information held securely by the Principal Investigator for 7 years.

If you require any further information regarding this research project or your participation in the study, please contact Dr Lindsay Hedden (lindsay_hedden@sfu.ca or 236.521.2079) or Sarah Spencer (sarah_spencer@sfu.ca) at Simon Fraser University.

If you have any concerns about your rights as a research participant and/or your experiences while participating in this study, please contact the Director, Research Ethics and Security of Simon Fraser University at hreb@sfu.ca or 778.782.6593.
If you are invited to participate in an interview, you will be guided through an informed consent prior to starting an interview. By proceeding with this survey and clicking the ‘Next’ button below, you agree with the following statements: your participation is completely voluntary; it is up to you if you decide to participate or not. You have been advised that you may ask questions about this project and receive answers before continuing. You are satisfied that any questions you had have been addressed. You are consenting for the researchers to retain and use the screening data you provide in the following survey as part of the data set for the project. You understand that you are free to withdraw participation from the project by closing your browser window or navigating away from this page, without having to give a reason and that doing so will not affect you now or in the future.
